About Our Prints and the Giclée Process:

We want your printing experience to be a positive one, so we have compiled the following information to bolster your confidence in us and our printing process. I would encourage you to take a few moments and read on. You can be assured that we have taken every opportunity to make your experience with Studio 3 a great one. Thank you for your interest in our work.
Each print we create is a handcrafted, fine-art, Giclee print made to the very highest standards for maximum archival stability and beauty. We personally print each one to make sure that it meets our quality standards and matches your vision for the image.

HeadwatersWe print on Epson Professional printers, using only the highest quality pigmented inks. These ink sets, matched to the papers we offer, have a rated life that approaches the 200 year mark for dark storage. With proper handling and display, as outlined below, these prints will last for generations, giving you and your customers many years of pleasure.

You have our personal assurance that your selection will be handled with the utmost care and packaged securely to arrive at your location in perfect condition. Each print is carefully inspected as it comes off the printer.  If you cannot pick up your print order then we can offer careful packaging and shipping.  It normally takes about three days before the print is shipped.

Here's what you can expect from Studio 3 and the prints we create:

All of the prints we work with are finished in Adobe Photoshop and encoded with special ICC profiles for accurate color reproduction on our system. we use Apple High Resolution color calibrated monitors in the inspection and color correction of all images. If you provide a digital to Studio 3 Creative there may be a difference in the color of your personal monitor and the final print.  This is quite normal since most consumer monitors are not calibrated or profiled. A print is viewed by reflected light and a monitor uses transmitted light. The industry has tried to minimize those differences by standardizing print viewing light sources, etc., but if you do not have such a system you may see things differently. You can be assured that we make every effort to produce prints that meet the highest standards for consistency.

What separates a print from Studio 3 Creative from that of a high volume printer:

Several years ago, before we purchased our first large format printer, I wanted to find a local professional printer-provider that we could Boise Depot in black and White rely on.  I provided a digital file to all the local and “national” chains to see which one would provide the best quality. In the end I could not use any of the prints as they were sub-standard to what we always provided our clients or their costs were simply to high for me, leaving little to no profit margin. It was for this very reason that we purchased our first Epson professional printer. The prints were absolutely stunning, surpassing anything we had seen before. We never looked back, or anywhere else.  Since that time we have made it a practice to personally provide the finest quality prints available to our clientele. Your prints will not look like drugstore photographs, printed on glossy paper with exaggerated colors and contrast. If you are familiar with fine-art, that is what you will get from Studio 3 Creative.

Print finishing and delivery

All paper prints are shipped in a protective, archival polypropylene bag with a core stiffener. These protective bags are perfectly clear and do not distort the finished print, therefore you can pick up the print and examine it without the risk of damaging the print surface. All you need to do is deliver it to the framer.

Canvas prints are handled differently. Upon request and for an additional fee, canvas prints are coated with Premier Art's Eco Print Shield. This not only protects the exposed canvas surface from UV light, but adds a waterproof coating that protects the print from handling that must occur during the framing process. These prints are also shipped flat inside the same protective bag. Canvas prints are cut with a 1/2" border around the image and are ready for framing.

We do not recommend stretching canvas prints. Although this has long been the standard way to prepare a canvas print for framing, there is a better way. The newest system that is gaining in popularity because of its archival qualities is called the Art Care System.  The basis of this system is specially formulated boards that actually absorbs and holds any airborne contaminants that could attack the print from the reverse side. With the print properly mounted then coated for protection of the surface, the print is encapsulated in protective barriers that greatly increase display longevity. Upon request and for an additional fee based upon size of the print, your canvas prints can be delivered, already mounted, using the Art Care System.
